Kanubhai was the son Ramdas Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi’s third son). He came back to India in 2014 after a four-decade long stay in the US, where he had worked with NASA for 25 years.

He has unhesitatingly ventured into danger zones, where western journalists are no longer willing to go to film and interview civilian. Apart from him, the Chinese news website “64Tianwang” and Chinese citizen journalists Lu Yuyu and Li Tingyu has also been honoured with the award in the media and citizen journalist category.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has sanctioned $48 million loan to help Assam state continue to its drive to improve access to efficient and reliable power in the national capital. This is the 2nd tranche loan of the $300 million multi tranche financing facility for the Assam Power Sector Investment Program that was approved by the ADB Board in July 2014. The project will help Assam to enhance capacity and efficiency of its power distribution system to improve electricity service to end users. The first tranche loan of $50 million was signed in February 2015.
